Can't wait for next season true blood

I am hooked on the HBO series, True Blood. I have read Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series many times, it's one of my favorites. At first I didn't like the tv series during season 1 but now I think of it as being separate from the books.
Last season was exciting and surprising since it semi-follows the book. The screen play is just as good. I read recently that the director read all of Harris's books but decided to add his own twist to the story. What was once a story of Sookie Stackhouse is now a story of the people in the town of Bon Temps. He added more depth to the peripheral characters in the book, like Tara and Lafayette who died in the second book.
Next season is going to be more surprising with the abduction of Bill Compton, the vampire who is dating Sookie.

The finale of True Blood

I wasn't able to watch True Blood until last night and it was worth waiting for. The whole maenad was finally resolved with Sam the one who kills her. What's with Eric selling V for the Queen of Louisiana? Is Eric the one behind Bill's kidnapping? What a great cliffhanger for the end of the season! The series is definitely different from the books but I view them as a separate entity. Now I have to wait for next summer. I guess I can watch season 1 again then season 2.

Crystal Healer review

Just finished reading "Crystal Healer" by S L Viehl and I liked it. It is like her other Stardoc books where there is much going on and it's a continuation of the Cherijo Grey Veil story. If you haven't read these before there about a genetically engineered woman who is a genius medical doctor. Her father with help from an alien being was successful in making a gmo person. He didn't know that the caretaker of his daughter was a far advanced alien from a distant dead race.
When Cherijo finds out she goes to the other reaches of the galaxy and becomes a xeno-doctor. The story goes on from there with her father hunting her through out the galaxy with the help of the League (a federation of planets).
I have read every book and one thing I came away with was I didn't care for the main character, Cherijo. She was so involved with medicine that she never thought about the conscequences of her actions. She really bugged me!
In "Rebel Ice" she crash lands on this planet, Akkabarr, and has brain damage which cause amnesia. She believes she was born on that planet and her personality is completely different. I really liked that change of character.
In "Crystal Healer" the ending was a surprise and I'm glad this is S L Viehl's last book of the Stardoc. I won't spoil the ending for those who may want to read this book.

Read old books they seem like new

I was inbetween authors so I decided to read an old book I haven't picked up in years. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. I was captivated all over again. I remember when it first came out and I have a difficult time reading it. Then a few years later I reread it and was hooked. I buzzed through the series that when I finally caught up with later ones I was on pins and needles waiting for the newest one, I was like an addict.
So now I start all over again and will start book 2 soon.
There are some books that you loved in the begining but can't reread them. David Weber's Honor Harrington series is like that. Oh well.

True Blood

What a episode last night.  It was like the book especially the beginning but after that it was different.  I loved the humor of Eric, that was like the book.  Eric's personality is much more modern and he flirts more in the book.  Bill's more subservient to Eric in the book then in the series.  Eric is the regions sheriff and Bill is just an underling.  I really am enjoying the HBO series and can't wait for the next episode.

best place to buy your books

There are times when the authors I usually read have nothing new out so I go to a local used book store, The Bookworm, in Boulder.  They have a wide assortment of books.  There used hardback novels are half the price of Borders or Barnes and Nobles.  I know many people go through Amazon.com to buy there books but I'm more tactile.  I like to actually read parts of the book and feel the paper bound there in the store.  Paperback novels are 2/3 off the original price.  I like watch there a glancing at the stacks of books on the floor.  So if your like me, go to your local used book store to buy a book from a unknown author.
